Hello, I am W, a current Active Duty member of the United States Armed Forces. I apologize but I feel that it is in my best interest to not reveal my actual name. I created this blog in response to the growing political polarization that is facing our great country today. As someone who falls dead center in the political spectrum, I created this blog in the hopes that my thoughts and beliefs would connect with like-minded citizens of this great country. Thank you for reading.

I’ve loved politics since I was a little kid. I’ve always been interested in the inner workings of it, the different ideologies, and what makes our political system so special. However, my faith in that special system has wavered in recent years. When I was a kid, I read about how each political party had a “base”, a core group of members that would vote for the party no matter who was running. This “base” consisted of roughly thirty-five percent of the population, for each party. The remaining thirty percent of the population were considered moderates, the true deciders of the election. It seems all of that has changed now. With the political polarization of the country, the moderate wings of both parties are being expelled and the share of voters that identify as Moderate/Independent is rapidly decreasing.

During this election cycle, I began to grow more and more disillusioned with our political system. How did we get to the point where we had two completely unqualified candidates running for the office of the most powerful figure in the world? Hillary Clinton was a criminal in my eyes. She broke laws on the handling of classified information. As a member of the Armed Forces who holds a security clearance, I know the seriousness of the offense and I also know that I would’ve been sent to the brig if I had committed the same acts as her. She should’ve been prosecuted, or at least disqualified from running for office. I am under the personal belief that the reason for the rise of President Donald Trump is due to Ms. Clinton’s unpopularity in the country. She is the only reason that President Donald Trump could seize states that have been solid Blue States for decades. Trump did not win due to his policies, he won because of the candidate he faced. The American people chose who they felt was the lesser Devil.

The election of President Donald Trump has brought about a new phase in the political polarization that is rocking this country. The political landscape is being changed, with the Republican Party being pulled further to the right and the Democratic Party being pulled further to the left. After being in a gridlock for six years, Congress has finally started to move. However, instead of improving the country with actions such as passing economic reforms or improving the Department of Veterans Affairs’ heavy backlog, the Republican-led Congress focuses on the elimination of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), or otherwise known as ObamaCare. In their rush to repeal Obama’s signature achievement, they have provided no viable plan and are looking at the possibility of leaving MILLIONS without healthcare. Congress is supposed to be for the PEOPLE, not the massive healthcare insurance industry who will gain by the repealing of the ACA. If Congress must repeal the ACA, then they should at least provide a viable plan for the millions that are currently covered.

The next four years are key to the future of America. The Trump Administration’s actions over the next four years will not just affect our lives, but our children’s lives as well. The Trump Administration has been elected in a period of American history rarely seen. He will have the ability to reshape the Supreme Court, which is something he has already began to do by restoring the Conservative majority with his candidate to be announced tomorrow. The Trump Administration will be forced to confront the rise of China as a global superpower, and the resurgence of Russia. The Trump Administration will be forced to continue the period of economic growth Obama created and follow through on his promise to “Make America Great Again”.  His actions will define America for decades. I will be watching him closely, and hoping for the best. This is the future of our country that we are talking about.

Thank you for reading, I will be back with another post in a couple of days.
